Synopsis
Mattukara Velan is a 1970 Indian Tamil-language film directed by B. R. Panthulu and produced by himself. The film stars Rajkumar, Dikki Madhava Rao, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, and features a supporting cast including Narasimharaju, Subbanna, Krishna Shastry, and Papamma.
The movie is a social drama that tells the story of Thammanna, a cattleman, who falls in love with a rich and educated woman Meena, mistaking him for her identical twin brother Murali. The core plot was loosely based on a Marathi play.
The soundtrack was composed by T. G. Lingappa, with lyrics written by G. V. Iyer. The film was part of a series of remakes, including the Kannada-language Emme Thammanna (1966), the Telugu-language Govula Gopanna (1968), and the Hindi-language Jigri Dost (1969).
