Synopsis

En Annan (My Elder Brother) is a 1970 Indian Tamil-language crime thriller film directed by P. Neelakantan and starring M. G. Ramachandran alongside Jayalalithaa.

The plot revolves around Ranga, the son of mill manager Velappan, who is falsely accused and imprisoned for the murder of business partner Karunagaran. After his father's incarceration, Ranga works diligently to educate their sister Thangam, who later marries Murali, unaware that he is Karunagaran's son.

When Murali discovers the truth, he abandons Thangam, leading Ranga to become furious and assault Valliammal's brother Nagappan. This incident prompts Nagappan to inform Murali about the altercation, resulting in Ranga facing imprisonment again.

While incarcerated, Ranga reunites with his father and dedicates himself to proving Velappan's innocence. The film is a remake of the Telugu film Poola Rangadu (1967), which was loosely based on A. J. Cronin's novel Beyond This Place.

En Annan was released on 21 May 1970 and ran for 100 days in theatres, starring M. G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa.
