Thappu Thanda is a 2017 Tamil-language comedy thriller film directed by debutant Srikantan and produced by SathyaMurthi for Clapboard Production.
The film stars Sathyamurthi as Vetri, an unemployed youth who arrives in Chennai seeking employment under his friend Ravi's former boss, Karuna. However, Ravi informs him that there is no current position available; instead, he directs Vetri to meet a person known as Guru.
Guru operates the company "Art Of Theft" and devises a plan with his team to loot money from Karuna, who is running for election and desperately needs funds. The thieves successfully execute their scheme, but the police officers Inspector Miller and Constable arrive at the scene, leading to a chaotic collision that leaves them severely injured.
The film concludes with the question of who was responsible for stealing Karuna's money left unresolved, leaving the audience to ponder the identity of the thief amidst witty dialogues and energetic musical sequences.
The cast includes Sathyamurthi as Vetri, Shweta Gai as Abi, Mime Gopi as Karna, Ajay Ghosh as Miller, John Vijay as Guru, E. Ramdoss as Thiyagu, Aathma Patrick as Kaliya, and others.
The film was released across Tamil Nadu on 8 September 2017 and took a year to script and shoot entirely across Chennai.
