Synopsis
Maamannan is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language political drama film written and directed by Mari Selvaraj.
The film is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies and features a stellar cast including Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil, Keerthy Suresh, and Udhayanidhi Stalin himself in his final acting role.
The plot revolves around a community that has been exploited by a powerful and influential man in the town. A man from the community decides to stand up against this oppression, collecting evidence against the influential man to expose his wrongdoings and bring him down.
Principal photography commenced in March 2022, and production wrapped in September 2022. The music was composed by A. R. Rahman, while the cinematography and editing were handled by Theni Eswar and Selva R. K., respectively.
Maamannan was released on June 29, 2023, and received positive reviews from critics, becoming a commercial success.
