Synopsis
Veppam is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language crime action film directed by Anjana Ali Khan and starring Nani, Nithya Menen, Karthik Kumar, and Bindu Madhavi.
The film marks Nani's Tamil debut and was jointly produced by Photon Kathaas and R. S. Infotainment. It had been in production for over a year before its release on July 29, 2011.
Veppam is set in the slum areas of Chennai and follows the story of Balaji (Muthukumar), who after his mother's death, leaves him on the streets with his father Jothi (Shimmore), a drunkard. The film unfolds as Karthik becomes entangled in a web of crime and deception.
The story also features Revathy (Nithya Menen), who falls in love with Karthik, and Ammaji (Jennifer), a woman drug peddler. The film received mixed reviews upon its release.
