Vattathukkul Chadhuram is a 1978 Indian Tamil-language female buddy film directed by S. P. Muthuraman and written by Panchu Arunachalam.
The film stars Latha, Sumithra, Srikanth, and Sarath Babu, and is based on the novel of the same name by Maharishi.
The plot revolves around Anu's childhood friendship with Malathy, who develops feelings for Karthik, despite his initial dislike due to her being born out of wedlock. The two friends consider moving to Chennai to support their ambitions: Anu pursuing a dancing career and Malathy continuing her studies.
Malathy's family tries to get her married, but Anu suggests taking her along to Chennai to continue studying while she pursues her dancing career. Anu must compromise with hotel managers to secure contracts for work, including her dance contract.
The film was released on 29 July 1978 and won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Tamil, with Latha receiving the award.
