Thennavan is a 2003 Indian Tamil-language political action film directed by A. M. Nandakumar and produced by Vijayakanth.
The film stars Vijayakanth as Thennavan IAS, an honest and upright officer who is handpicked by the Prime Minister of India to be the Chief Election Commissioner of India.
Thennavan's first assignment is conducting the Indian general election in Tamil Nadu, where he suggests passing five laws to fix the electoral system. However, the current Chief Minister Ilanthiraiyan (Nassar) tries to stop these laws from being passed due to his own corrupt interests.
As the election approaches, Thennavan falls in love with Divya (Kiran Rathod), and together they work to expose Ilanthiraiyan's corruption. The film culminates in a courtroom drama where Thennavan provides evidence against Ilanthiraiyan, leading to his conviction.
The musical score for the film was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Thennavan was released on 15 August 2003, coinciding with India's Independence Day.
