Synopsis
Kaalai is a 2008 Indian Tamil-language action film directed by Tarun Gopi and starring Silambarasan and Vedhika.
The film's supporting cast includes Sangeetha, Seema, Santhanam, Lal, and Sulile Kumar.
The movie follows the story of Jeeva, who shares his name with two other characters: a villainous Jeevanandham and a police officer Jeevanandham. The plot revolves around Jeeva's grandmother, Karuppayi Aatha, who kills five men at the age of nine due to their scorn for her father's advice.
After her return from prison, Karuppayi Aatha becomes a hard-core 'dada' and is feared by the villagers. Meanwhile, Jeevanandham comes to the village to try to find illicit activities, while a rowdy named Jeeva seeks revenge on his father for killing his grandmother's grandson.
The film features music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography handled by R. D. Rajasekhar, and editing by Anthony. Kaalai was released on 15 January 2008 and was a commercial failure.
