Richie is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language action crime film directed by Gautham Ramachandran and written by Rakshit Shetty. It serves as a remake of the 2014 Kannada film Ulidavaru Kandanthe.
The story unfolds during the Christmas season in Manapad town, where villagers are preparing for their annual festival procession. A villager accidentally uncovers an old treasure, setting off a chain of events that leads to widespread destruction and impacts the lives of many villagers.
The narrative primarily follows four individuals whose paths become entangled after this incident: Richie, a local thug; Selva, a boat mechanic still grieving the loss of his friend; Megha, a local journalist involved in uncovering or reporting on the story; and other supporting characters played by Prakash Raj, Elango Kumaravel, Raj Bharath, and Aadukalam Murugadoss.
The film explores how this discovery affects these characters and the community at large amidst the festive backdrop. It was released in India on December 8, 2017, after beginning production in June 2016.
