Synopsis
Kathakali is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Pandiraj and starring Vishal, who also co-produced it alongside Pandiraj. The lead actress is Catherine Tresa.
The film follows Amudhavel as he returns to Cuddalore for his marriage to Meenu Kutty after spending six years in the US. He is forced to invite a local gangster named Lakshmipathy aka Thamba, despite their troubled past.
Thamba was responsible for dragging Amudhan and his elder brother Gnanavel to prison five years ago on false charges after Gnanavel decided to leave Thamba's fishing business and start his own venture. The film explores the forced reunion between Amudhan and Thamba, setting up potential conflict as Amudhan navigates his relationship with Meenu amidst these unresolved issues.
The movie features music composed by Hiphop Tamizha, cinematography by Balasubramaniem, and editing by Pradeep E. Ragav. It released on 14 January 2016 to positive reviews, with praise for Vishal's performance, the action sequences, the direction, and the musical score.
