Synopsis
Karuppan is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language action drama film written and directed by R. Panneerselvam.
The film stars Vijay Sethupathi, Tanya Ravichandran, and Bobby Simha in the lead roles.
The story revolves around Kathir, a young man who harbours romantic feelings for Anbu, but she ultimately marries Karuppan due to complex family circumstances. Kathir then embarks on a mission to separate Karuppan and Anbu, driven by his desire for Anbu.
Released on 29 September 2017, the film received mixed reviews and became an average success.
The plot follows Karuppan, who earns as a daily wager but has land for farming. He is accompanied by his maternal uncle and is involved in bull taming (jallikattu). Maayi, a well-respected man in the village, challenges Karuppan to tame his bull, which he does. Anbu marries Karuppan due to his good character and her brother's wishes.
