Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum is a 2016 Tamil romantic comedy film directed by Nalan Kumarasamy.
The story centers on Kathir, a rowdy recently released from prison after five years, who harbors ambitions for opening a bar in Chennai that he was promised would make him wealthy. Across the street resides Yazhini, an IT professional whose job loss during the city's economic recession leaves her financially unstable and living in a small apartment.
Despite their vastly different circumstances – Kathir dreaming of wealth while Yazhini seeks stability amidst hardship – these neighbors develop an easy rapport through daily interactions. Their contrasting lives form the backdrop for a gradual mutual attraction that blossoms into romance, exploring this unlikely connection between a rowdy recently released from prison and an IT professional struggling financially.
The film highlights themes of love overcoming disparate backgrounds within Chennai's complex environment as they navigate the city's challenges together. Produced by C. V. Kumar and K. E. Gnanavel Raja, it stars Vijay Sethupathi and Madonna Sebastian. Principal photography took place from April to July 2015, mostly in Chennai.
The music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, with Dinesh B. Krishnan as cinematographer and Leo John Paul as editor.
