Veyil is a 2006 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Vasanthabalan and starring Bharath and Pasupathy in lead roles alongside Bhavana, Priyanka, and Sriya Reddy.
The film tells the story of two brothers, Sivanandi Thevar and Murugesan, from the perspective of Murugesan as he recalls his childhood memories. After 20 years, Murugesan returns home after running away, and the rest of the film explores his mental turmoil as he is caught between his deep love for his younger brother who runs a successful advertising agency and his guilt of not being a responsible son or elder brother.
The film features music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography by R. Madhi, and editing by Mathan Gunadeva. It was released on December 17, 2006, and became a commercial success. Veyil was the first Tamil film screened at Cannes as part of the 2007 Cannes Film Festival under the 'Tous les Cinemas du Monde' section.
