Varuvan Vadivelan is a 1978 Indian Tamil-language devotional film directed by K. Shankar.
The film stars Jai Ganesh, R. Muthuraman, Vijayakumar, Jayachitra, Fatafat Jayalaxmi, Latha, Chandrakala and Padmapriya.
Composed by M. S. Viswanathan with lyrics by Kannadasan, the soundtrack received an award for Best Music Director (M.S. Viswanathan).
The film itself won a Special Prize for Best Film at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and also honored Baby Sudha as Best Child Artist.
Notably, Latha, who was a secretary to the AIADMK president at the time, left her government post to act in this film due to its content related to atheism, which conflicted with Dravidian principles.
The filming took place across Sri Lanka, Singapore and Malaysia.
