Varnam

Varnam is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Raju.

The film stars Giridharan, Aathish, Monica, Sampath Raj, Aswatha and Vijay Sethupathi, Muthukumar and Karate Raja.

Raju, who produced the Malayalam film Anandabhadram, makes his directorial debut with this film.

Vijay Sethupathi played a character role of a lower class man in the film. His opening shot involved someone urinating in his mouth.

The film has been selected for several international film festivals, including the Montreal World Film Festival, London Asian Film Festival, Chennai International Film Festival, Norway Tamil Film Festival Awards, New York Indian Film Festival and Roxbury Film Festival.

Malathi Rangarajan from The Hindu praised the film's storyline, while Dinamalar commended its cinematography and music. A critic from The New Indian Express did not provide a detailed review.
