Vallavan Oruvan is a 1966 Indian Tamil-language spy thriller film directed by R. Sundaram and written by A. L. Narayanan.
Produced by Modern Theatres, with music composed by Vedha, the film stars Jaishankar and L. Vijayalakshmi.
The plot centers on a dangerous gang involved in manufacturing firearms and explosives for looting, derailing trains, and disrupting law and order. They utilize sulphur from a match factory located in Madras to create their bombs.
A CID officer assigned to investigate these cases is killed at the factory while conducting his inquiry. To uncover who was responsible for this murder, another CID officer named Shankar is dispatched by the D.I.G. of Bombay specifically to investigate the case upon its occurrence.
Upon arriving in Madras, Shankar finds himself being followed and targeted by his enemies from the outset. He receives assistance during his investigation from Kumar at the local Madras office.
The film is based on the 1964 French film Shadow of Evil and was released on 11 November 1966.
