Thendral is a 2004 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Thangar Bachan and produced by V. Ravichandran.
The film stars Parthiban and Uma, with Rajashree in a pivotal role.
The movie tells the story of Nalangili, a famous writer from Aynavaram, Chennai who refuses to accept the Sahitya Akademi Award due to his passion for social justice. He is arrested after interfering with a kumbabishekam ritual at the local temple.
Nalangili meets a man on death row in prison, who shares his story of losing his hand in an altercation with a bigot. Meanwhile, Thamarai, a fan of Nalangili, lives with her mother in a hut and sells milk to earn a living.
Thendral was released on 5 February 2004.
