Synopsis
Thayagam is a 1996 Indian Tamil-language action film directed by A. R. Ramesh.
The film stars Vijayakanth, Ranjitha, Napoleon, and Mohini, and was released on January 15, 1996.
The story follows three death row prisoners who escape from jail and hijack a plane carrying Abdul Salim, a scientist with a miracle drug. The pilot lands the plane in Kashmir, where they are threatened by Snobir, a sadistic terrorist leader.
As the passengers try to escape, both the pilot and national boxing champion Pailwan fight back against the terrorists, killing many of them. However, an ambush on a bridge leads to a tragic sacrifice by Pailwan, who saves the pilot and passengers at great cost.
Vijayakanth won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize for his performance in this film.
