Thanga Gopuram is a 1971 Indian Tamil-language film directed, written, and produced by M. S. Solaimalai.
The lead actors were Jaishankar and Jayalalithaa, with supporting roles played by Sundarrajan, V. K. Ramasamy, M. R. R. Vasu, Srikanth, Vennira Aadai Nirmala, Srividya, and Manorama.
The film featured music composed by S. M. Subbaiah Naidu, with lyrics penned by Kannadasan, "Kavi" Rajagopal, and Ra. Pazhanisamy.
Jaishankar portrayed Jayalalithaa's brother for the second time after Gowri Kalyanam (1966). The film was released on 12 August 1971.
The movie follows Jayalalithaa as she plays a dual role, reflecting on stardom and anticipating her transformation into a meta-object. She won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress for this performance.
