Thambikku Entha Ooru is a 1984 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by Rajasekhar and written by Panchu Arunachalam.
The movie stars Rajinikanth as Balu, the only son of Chandrasekhar (VS Raghavan), who leads a lavish but violent life. To teach him discipline, his father sends him to Uthama Palayam village to work for his friend Gangadharan (Senthamarai) under strict secrecy.
In the village, Balu adjusts to hard work and develops a relationship with Sumathi (Maadhavi), an arrogant rich girl. Initially mistreated by her, their mutual affection grows. When Sumathi's father cancels her marriage to another's son at her request, this angers the latter, who kidnaps her intending to force her into marriage with his own son (Nizhalgal Ravi).
Balu finds acceptance and respect in Uthama Palayam, and develops a good relation with Gangadharan and his family. During this time, he develops a liking for Sumathi, who eventually reciprocates his love.
