Sundara Pandian is a 1998 Indian Tamil-language comedy film directed and produced by R. Raghu, starring Karthik, Swathi, and Heera Rajagopal.
The film tells the story of two men, Pandi (Karthik) and Sundar (also played by Karthik), who are initially mistaken for each other due to their similar appearances. Pandi is an uneducated villager in love with his niece, while Sundar is the son of a rich businessman living in the city.
Pandi decides to leave his village to earn money and find a wife, while Sundar comes to Pandi's village to swim at the river. The villagers catch Sundar and he stays with Pandi's mother, who shows him affection. Meanwhile, Ramya (Heera Rajagopal), a police officer, falls in love with Pandi.
The film explores themes of love, mistaken identities, and social class differences, featuring comedic misunderstandings and eventual resolution. The story unfolds as Kottaval (Manivannan) escapes from a psychiatrist hospital to kill Ashok Raj and his son Sundar, while Karthika falls in love with Sundar.
