"Solaiyamma" is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language film written and directed by Kasthuri Raja.
The movie stars Rahul, Sukanya, and Karikalan in its lead roles.
The plot revolves around Solaiyamma, an orphan raised by her father who was promised marriage to her relative Balraj. Vairavan is a menacing figure who terrorizes the village and rapes local girls. He attempts to assault Solaiyamma but flees after being rebuffed.
Following this incident, fueled by the villagers' assumption she has been raped, including her own relatives, her father takes his own life, leaving Solaiyamma isolated in the community.
Vairavan then turns to psychological torment against her. The specific events that unfold subsequently form the central part of the story's narrative.
Deva composed the music for the film, with Kasthuri Raja providing the lyrics.
The film was released on 12 December 1992.
