Salem Vishnu is a 1990 Indian Tamil-language action film directed, produced, and written by Thiagarajan. The film stars Thiagarajan in the title role alongside Rupini.
The story follows Vishnu, a clever but expelled student who decides to work as a car mechanic instead of his brother Siva, an honest municipal commissioner. When they are transferred to the same city, their shock at Vishnu's profession leads them into conflict with Kathavarayan and his corrupt brother Ashokan.
The plot involves Siva's investigation after journalist Raji, who sent details of their illegal activities, is killed by Ashokan. The film is a spinoff/prequel of the Malayalam film New Delhi (1987), with Thiagarajan reprising the role.
