Sakkarai Devan is a 1993 Indian Tamil-language action drama film directed by J. Panneer in his directorial debut and produced by A. S. Ibrahim Rowther.
The film stars Vijayakanth, Sukanya, and Kanaka, and was released on July 10, 1993.
The story follows Sakkarai Devan, who makes and sells jaggery, as he falls in love with Sarasu, a woman already being pursued by the village landlord Vairaperumal. The situation escalates when Sarasu's widowed brother is arrested, leading to a series of events that ultimately bring the villagers together against Vairaperumal.
The screenplay was written by R. Selvaraj, who drew inspiration from his childhood visits to sugarcane fields in Alanganallur.
