Synopsis
Rowthiram is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language martial arts film directed by Gokul and produced by R. B. Choudary.
The film stars Jiiva and Shriya Saran, with Sentrayan, Jayaprakash, and Lakshmy Ramakrishnan in supporting roles.
Set in the 1980s, the movie follows a young Shiva (Jiiva) as he is trained by his grandfather (Prakash Raj) in the ancient Indian martial art Kalaripayattu to be bold and brave. However, Shiva's parents want him to lead a peaceful life.
The film also features Priya (Shriya), a law college student who becomes Shiva's love interest. The movie follows Shiva as he faces various challenges and adversaries, including a goon and another baddie called Gowri.
Upon release, the film received mixed reviews due to its weak storyline, but the performances of Jiiva and Shriya were praised by critics and audiences alike. The ending was later changed to a positive one based on audience feedback.
