Pudhiya Mannargal is a 1994 Indian Tamil-language political thriller film directed by Vikraman and starring Vikram and Mohini.
The film follows a group of wayward youth who are forced to enter politics to help save the state they live in and for the betterment of their community.
During its production, Vikram was approached by Mani Ratnam to star in Bombay (1995), but he could not accept the offer due to his appearance in Pudhiya Mannargal.
The movie's soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman, with all songs being part of this score. The background score was done by Rajamani, who took over after Rahman had to travel to the US for 2 months during re-recording time.
A group of college friends, including Sathyamurti and Vidya, are forced into politics when one of their friends is killed by the CM. Vidya witnesses the murder and later commits suicide after being raped for going to the police.
