Poova Thalaiya is a 1969 Indian Tamil-language comedy film written and directed by K. Balachander.
The film stars Gemini Ganesh as Ganesan, a widower, alongside S. Varalakshmi in the lead roles. Jaishankar and Nagesh play his brothers, with one of them developing feelings for Vennira Aadai's Nirmala, who is also Parvathamma's youngest daughter.
The plot revolves around Ganesan's relationship with his mother-in-law, Parvathamma, and a healthy competition between her and Shankar to outwit each other.
The film was shot at AVM Studios and produced by Rama. The music was composed by M. S. Viswanathan, with lyrics by Vaali.
