Pondatti Thevai is a 1990 Indian Tamil-language film written and directed by Parthiban.
The film stars Parthiban himself alongside newcomer Ashwini, with A. Sundaram producing it.
The story revolves around Kannan, a bus conductor who becomes captivated by Shanthi after seeing her on television discussing marriage. He attempts to woo her following an incident where she loses her pass and he helps her during questioning by an inspector.
Kannan visits Shanthi's Brahmin family home disguised as a beggar, while she also visits his residence. A poignant element involves Kannan retrieving the 'thaali' (pot) belonging to his deceased mother from a pawnbroker shop.
