Parthiban Kanavu is a 1960 Indian Tamil-language historical fiction film directed by D. Yoganand.
The film stars Vyjayanthimala and Gemini Ganesan in the lead roles, with S. V. Ranga Rao also featuring prominently. Other actors appearing include K. Balaji (in a special appearance) and B. Saroja Devi (as an extra), alongside supporting performances by Ragini, S. V. Subbaiah, Kumari Kamala, T. S. Balaiah, P. S. Veerappa, and S. A. Ashokan.
Produced by V. Govindarajan under his Jubilee Films banner, the film is an adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1942 historical novel of the same name set in the 7th century AD during the Chola dynasty.
The story revolves around Parthiban, a Chola King who dies in battle while striving to be free from Pallava dominance. His son Vikraman takes up this unfinished dream and is captured by the enemy forces pursuing him.
