Illam is a 1988 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by I. V. Sasi and starring Sivakumar and Amala.
The film is a remake of the Malayalam film Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam (1986).
The story revolves around Mayilsamy, a simple villager struggling to save his ancestral home, who tries to evict Saradha, a tenant living with her widowed mother and young brother. However, things become complicated when Rajendran, Mayilsamy's policeman friend, falls for Saradha.
As the story unfolds, it is revealed that Saradha was previously in a mental hospital due to an accident that killed her father, causing her to be mentally affected.
The film was released on 12 August 1988.
