Synopsis
Harichandra is a 1968 Indian Tamil-language Hindu mythological film directed by K. S. Prakash Rao and produced by G. Varalakshmi.
The movie stars Sivaji Ganesan as Harichandra, the ruler of Ayodhya known for his truthfulness and integrity.
Harichandra faces a challenge from Vishwamitran (credited here as Viswamithran) concerning his word and promise to sage Vashista, who demands that he give over his kingdom.
The plot follows Harichandra's decision to hand over his kingdom and move to Kasi, where he sells his wife and son to Kalakandan in order to fulfill the mandatory alms for sages.
