Guna Sundari is a 1955 Indian Tamil-language film starring Gemini Ganesan and Savitri.
The film serves as a remake of the earlier 1949 Telugu movie "Gunasundari Katha".
The narrative centers on Ugra Senan, the king of Dhara Nagaram, who has three daughters: Rupasundari, Hemasundari, and Gunasundari.
Gunasundari is the youngest daughter. Tragedy strikes early when their mother passes away shortly after Gunasundari's birth.
Later in life, during a conversation between father and daughters, the two older sisters express that their father is the most important person for them. However, Gunasundari strongly disagrees, stating her belief that one's husband holds greater importance than one's father.
In response to her differing views, Ugra Senan becomes displeased and angry with his youngest daughter. He subsequently marries off his two elder daughters to their cousins but arranges for Gunasundari to marry an old beggar man who is physically deformed as a form of lessoning.
