Gnana Oli is a 1972 Indian Tamil-language film directed by P. Madhavan and written by Vietnam Veedu Sundaram.
The film stars Sivaji Ganesan and serves as a loose adaptation of Victor Hugo's novel Les Misérables.
The story revolves around Anthony, an orphaned casket maker raised under the guidance of a kind church father. After agreeing to build a coffin for someone who is thought to be dying but survives miraculously, Anthony's own wife does not survive childbirth, leaving him with a half-finished coffin that becomes a poignant symbol of his loss.
Anthony later returns as a rich businessman with a different identity, faced with the dilemma of whether or not he will disclose his identity to protect the dignity of his daughter.
