Agathiyar is a 1972 Indian Tamil-language Hindu mythological film written, directed, and produced by A. P. Nagarajan.
The film stars Sirkazhi Govindarajan as Agathiyar Muni, a celestial intellectual tasked with balancing Earth during Shiva's wedding to Parvati and spreading goodness and equality among humans.
T. R. Mahalingam, A. V. M. Rajan, Kumari Padmini, R. S. Manohar, Suruli Rajan, Manorama, and Sridevi feature in supporting roles.
The soundtrack was composed by Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan.
Agathiyar ran for 100 days upon release and was later dubbed into Hindi under the title "Maharish" (1986).
