Tubelight is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by Indra in his debut, alongside writing and composing the soundtrack.
The central characters are Laxman (played by Salman Khan) and his younger brother Bharat (portrayed by Sohail Khan). They share an intimate bond as they live together without any other family members. Their peaceful existence is shattered when war erupts, leading to Bharat being drafted into the Army.
Heartbroken and helpless, Bharat leaves Laxman behind in their small North Indian town. The situation worsens as news from the border becomes increasingly dire, heightening the tension and fear for Bharat's safety. This separation profoundly affects Laxman, leaving him devastated but also prompting a change within him.
In an attempt to cope with his brother's absence and the surrounding conflict, Laxman encounters Adhithi, who introduces him to art therapy as a means of dealing with his own hearing disability – a consequence of the accident that occurred before Bharat's deployment. Inspired by this new form of expression and driven by his desire to find Bharat amidst the war chaos, Laxman embraces art therapy.
Through his newfound passion for art, he not only confronts his personal struggles but also finds purpose in trying to stop the ongoing conflict that threatens to keep him separated from his brother. The film follows this journey of emotional discovery and reconciliation against a backdrop of national tension.
