Seemathurai is a 2018 Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by Santhosh Thyagarajan in his directorial debut.
The central narrative revolves around Marudhu, portrayed by Geethan Britto, who harbours deep affection for Poorni. Poorni, played by Varsha Bollamma, is a college student. The story details Marudhu's persistent pursuit and stalking of Poorni until she eventually reciprocates his feelings.
Complications arise when Poorni's family learns about the relationship they are trying to build. They become strongly opposed due to their perception of Marudhu as an unsuitable partner, specifically labelling him a wastrel. This familial disapproval creates significant obstacles for the young lovers in the village setting.
The film was shot for 45 days around Pattukkottai, two months before Cyclone Gaja took place. The soundtrack was composed by Jose Franklin and features songs such as "Thanjavur Melathukku", "Aagayam Enna", "Mudhal Murai", and "Karuvalan Kaattukku".
The film stars Geethan Britto as Marudhu, Varsha Bollamma as Poorni, and features supporting performances from Adesh Bala, Viji Chandrasekhar, Kayal Vincent, Mahendran, and Nellai Siva.
