Mapla Singam is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by N. Rajasekar.
The film stars Vimal and Anjali, with Soori in a supporting role. Don Ashok has penned the dialogs. N. R. Raghunanthan has scored the music, whereas cinematography was done by V. S. Tharun Balaji and editing by Vivek Harshan.
The story revolves around two families in conflict due to their differing views on marriage. Sevagapandian (Radha Ravi) is a politician leading his household with his daughter Vinodhini (Madhumila) and nephew Anbuchelvan (Vimal). Vinodhini develops romantic interest in Satish (Vishnu), but Sevagapandian strongly opposes love marriages. She confides her secret desire to Anbu, who agrees she should marry Satish and promises to convince his parents.
Meanwhile, Anbu encounters Sailaja (Anjali) at a temple fair where Vinodhini's family is also present. He falls in love with her instantly, much like Sevagapandian had fallen for Vinodhini's mother years prior. Sailaja reciprocates his affection.
The film explores the comedic situations arising from these intersecting romances and the political backdrop of their village setting. Mapla Singam was released on 11 March 2016.
