Synopsis
Maadathy is a 2021 Tamil film directed by Leena Manimekalai and starring Semmalar Annam.
The movie explores themes typical of karuvachy films cinema, set against the backdrop of a river that serves as a symbol of oppression and liberation for its lead character, Yosana, a Dalit girl from the 'unseeable' Puthirai vannaar caste group.
Starring Ajmina Kassim, Patrick Raj, Semmalar Annam, and Arul Kumar in the lead roles, Maadathy premiered at the Busan International Film Festival 2019 and was later released globally on Neestream OTT platform on June 24, 2021.
