Yaen? (Transl: Why?) is a 1970 Tamil-language film directed by T.R. Ramanna and written by Subbu Arumugam.
The story is based on the novel 'Muthukinnam' serialized in Kumudam, and it revolves around Kamala, who meets a singer aspiring to be a lawyer but faces obstacles due to their differing social statuses.
A villainous character develops feelings for her, while she receives an unsuitable marriage proposal from a wealthy older man who treats her poorly after her father's sudden death.
Her younger brother suffers a leg injury in an accident and disappears; the family's old patriarch forbids Kamala from searching for him. This leads to her elder brother killing the patriarch and subsequently escaping custody.
The film stars A. V. M. Rajan, Ravichandran, Lakshmi, and Vennira Aadai Nirmala, and it was released on 14 January 1970, emerging as a success.
