Synopsis
Virumaandi is a 2004 Indian Tamil-language action drama film directed by Kamal Haasan and starring Kamal Haasan, Pasupathy, Napoleon, Abhirami, Rohini, Shanmugarajan, and Nassar in pivotal roles.
The film's score and soundtrack were composed by Ilaiyaraaja. It marked Rohini’s comeback film after an 8-year hiatus from acting.
The movie revolves around the interview of two prison inmates, Kothala Thevar (Pasupathy) and Virumaandi (Kamal Haasan), who share their thoughts on how they feel about the direction their lives have taken and where they are now.
The film's narrative is based on the Rashomon effect, as told through an interview between civil rights activist Angela Kathamuthu and her cameraman in Madras Central Prison.
