Synopsis
Vettaikkaran is an action drama film directed by M. A. Thirumugam and produced by Sandow M.M.A. Chinnappa Thevar, released in 1964.
The film stars MG Ramachandran as Babu, a wealthy estate owner whose hunting hobby creates conflict with his mother's wishes, alongside Savitri Ganesh as Latha, the woman he meets while roaming the forests who later becomes his wife.
Mayavan (portrayed by M.G. Ganesh) emerges as a plunderer who also serves as Babu's estate manager, supporting their illicit relationship and exploiting Babu's wealth.
The film explores themes involving this hunter-landowner character, the morally ambiguous nature of his double agent, and the complications arising from their forbidden union.
Vettaikkaran was released on 14 January 1964, Pongal day, and was a commercial success, running for 25 weeks in theatres.
