Vazhkai Padagu is a 1965 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by C. Srinivasan and produced by S. S. Vasan under Gemini Studios.
The film stars Gemini Ganesan, Devika, and R. Muthuraman in the lead roles, with notable supporting actors including S. V. Ranga Rao, K. Balaji, R. S. Manohar, and M. V. Rajamma.
The plot follows a young unemployed woman named Seetha who takes up stage acting. A wealthy man called Kannabiran attempts to kidnap her but fails during the rescue attempt by her boyfriend, Rajan, aided by his dog. Despite opposition from Rajan's family due to their poor opinion of Seetha, they eventually marry.
The story continues when Kannabiran is murdered; Gopal, the director of Seetha's stage troupe, becomes the prime suspect and is arrested. He has a valid alibi – he claimed a young woman stayed with him that night, but failed to disclose Seetha's presence during questioning or investigation.
Vazhkai Padagu is a remake of the studio's own Hindi film Zindagi (1964), released on 26 March 1965.
