Synopsis
Vanakkam Chennai is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film written and directed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi in her debut.
The film stars Shiva and Priya Anand, with Santhanam and Rahul Ravindran portraying supporting roles. It revolves around two people who end up renting the same house due to a fraudulent real estate broker, and slowly fall in love.
Produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin of Red Giant Movies, filming began in February 2013 and was nearly complete that July, taking place mostly in Chennai and Munnar. The music is scored by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography was handled by Richard M. Nathan, and editing by T. S. Suresh.
The film follows the story of K. Madasamy alias Ajay, a youth from Theni, who comes to Chennai to take up a job, and Anjali Rajamohan, a photographer from London, who is also in the city to capture South Indian culture on camera. They are deceived by Narayanan, a comic fraudster.
Vanakkam Chennai was released worldwide on 11 October 2013.
