Vaikarai Pookkal is a 1996 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by E. Mu. Vetrivalan.
The film stars Raja, Rajashree, Ponvannan and newcomer Annam, with Shanmugasundaram, Samikannu, A. K. Veerasamy, Karan and Tharini playing supporting roles.
Set in the village Rasarasanpatti, the story revolves around Nallathambi (Ponvannan), a poor man who falls in love with Maari (Tharini) from a wealthy family. Despite their love being opposed by her brother Vellaisamy Gounder (Shanmugasundaram), they get married and are forced to live outside the village due to caste restrictions.
Years later, Nallathambi's son Soori is a sandalwood smuggler, while his daughters Deivanai (Rajashree) and Dhamayanthi (Annam) navigate their own lives amidst family struggles and societal expectations.
The film was released on 26 January 1996.
