Vaigasi Poranthachu is a 1990 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by Radha Bharathi in his directorial debut.
The movie stars Prashanth and Kaveri in their respective acting debuts, telling the story of Kumaresan from a poor family who is unaware of his father's identity and faces mockery because of it. He compensates with naughtiness but is academically brilliant.
Ranjitha, the daughter of Pandidurai (the village head), falls for him after being attracted by his wits and pranks orchestrated by his friends. The film was released on November 16, 1990, and became a commercial success.
It was later remade in Telugu as Prema Vijayam and in Hindi as I Love You (1992), with Prashanth reprising his role.
