The film stars C.V.V. Panthulu, G. Pattu Iyer, M.V. Krishnappa, and V. Govindasami in lead roles.
The movie is based on the Hindu mythological tale of Aniruddha, the grandson of Krishna, who falls in love with Usha, the daughter of the demon Bakasura.

The film was produced by Murugan Talkies of Madurai, one of the early pioneers of Tamil film production.
Another short film titled Kizhattu Maappillai was also screened along with Usha Kalyanam.
The film features S. D. Subbulakshmi in a lead role, contrary to initial information stating C.V.V. Panthulu as the sole star.
