Unnaipol Oruvan is a 1965 Indian Tamil-language drama film written, co-produced and directed by Jayakanthan. The film stars R. Gandhimathi, P. Udhayan, S. Prabhakar and A. K. Veerasamy.
The movie is based on Jayakanthan's novel of the same name and tells the story of a construction worker who lives in a slum with her only son Chitti Babu. After being abandoned by her lover, Thangam, Chitti grows up as an irresponsible boy until he meets the owner of an ice cream factory, who preaches to him about the importance of his mother and provides him with a job and education.
The film follows Chitti's transformation into a responsible individual who takes up the burden of supporting his mother financially. An astrologer Manickam also enters the slum during this time, adding another layer to the story.
Unnaipol Oruvan won the Third Best Feature Film award at the 12th National Film Awards in 1965.
