Udayanan Vasavadatta is a 1947 Tamil-language film directed and produced by T. R. Raghunath.
The story revolves around Udayanan, the king of Vatsa, who falls in love with Vasavadatta. He loses a divine elephant due to committing a sin. While he searches for it, Vasavadatta remains behind teaching music and dance. A rival king imprisons Udayanan using an imitation elephant crafted from precious stones. Concurrently, another rival attacks Udayanan's kingdom.
After overcoming these challenges, Udayanan defeats his adversaries and reunites with Vasavadatta.
The film stars Vasundhara Devi, G. N. Balasubramaniam, and M. S. Saroja, with D. Balasubramaniam, K. Sarangapani, and Kali N. Rathnam playing supporting roles.
Produced by R. M. Ramanathan, the movie was released in 1947.
