Synopsis
Thoonga Nagaram is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by Gaurav Narayanan.
The film stars Vimal, Bharani, Nishanth, Anjali, and Gaurav Narayanan, and follows the story of four friends - Kannan (Vimal), Ayyavu (Bharani), Rajamani (Gaurav Narayanan), and Mariappan (Nishanth) - who live their lives in Madurai.
When Kannan encounters his childhood friend Radha (Anjali), a compere in a local cable TV channel, love blossoms between them. However, one event changes the course of their life when Kannan bashes a youth for taking obscene video clippings of a girl and blackmailing her with ulterior motive.
The youth's father, a Kamala theatre owner, seeks revenge against the men behind the attack, leading to a conspiracy that turns the friends into foes. The film was produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies and shot entirely in Madurai, where the story takes place.
Released on 4 February 2011, Thoonga Nagaram received positive reviews from audiences and critics alike.
