Thevar Magan is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Bharathan and written and produced by Kamal Haasan.
Set in the feudal system of Madurai, the story revolves around Shaktivelu (played by Sivaji Ganesan), the modern son of Peria-thevar. He returns to his ancestral home to introduce his girlfriend (Gauthami) to his family and becomes involved in the violent feuds between rival landowners, led by Mayathevar (Nassar).
Upon his father's death, Shaktivelu assumes the mantle of Thevar leader. His personal life, including his relationship with Gauthami, is a central theme alongside these escalating conflicts.
The film stars Sivaji Ganesan and Kamal Haasan in lead roles, also featuring Revathi and Nassar. Supporting actors include Kallapart Natarajan, Kaka Radhakrishnan, Sangili Murugan, and Vadivelu.
The script was completed in seven days using Movie Magic software. The film was inspired by films like The Godfather (1972) and Kaadu (1973), and it features a lengthy 175-day run at the box office after its release on Diwali day, October 25, 1992.
